TTT – My Ten Most Recent Reads

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

From the latest read to the earliest read . . .

  • Circe by Madeline Miller
  • The Flight Attendant by Chris Bohjalian
    • I also have a full review of this on my blog. I really liked it a lot!
  • Wild Sign by Patricia Briggs
    • This is part of my favorite series, well, two series’, Alpha and Omega and Mercy Thompson. The only issue I had with it was . . . um, the tentacle thing. But that was mostly ‘off-screen’, so that’s good.
  • Lion in the Valley by Elizabeth Peters
    • This is the 4th book in the series, a mystery series set in Victorian era Egypt with an amazing protagonist. I love this series. I first read it in high school and basically have been reading it ever since.
  • The Mummy Case by Elizabeth Peters
    • Listen, I just love these books (this is the third in the series, Amelia Peabody) and I read these when I was sick in a quarantine bay with COVID on an Army base (this is a strange and involved story, I’ll tell it if you’re really curious) and I have never felt so much comfort from books like I felt from reading these in that stupid ‘panda bay’.
  • The Curse of the Pharaohs by Elizabeth Peters
    • Listen (this the second of the Amelia Peabody books) not only are these great mysteries, but they’re funny as hell and Emerson (and much, much later) Ramses are hot. So, there’s that.
  • The Crocodile on the Sandbank by Elizabeth Peters
    • This is the first in the Amelia Peabody series. I don’t know how I found this book in my high school library, but I %100 believe it was because God loves me, because these have been a gift ever since.
  • My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodie Ashton, Jodi Meadows
    • This book was hilarious AF, I totally recommend it. I don’t usually read YA, but if there are more like this, please let me know (I know there’s more in the series, I mean in general).
  • Migrations by Charlotte McConaghy
    • Once I get I’m able, I will be buying this in hardcover, because I love this book so much. It’s just so beautifully written and I couldn’t put it down and my heart broke, but it also soared. It’s so good!
  • You’re Not Enough, and That’s Okay by Allie Beth Stuckey
    • Let me preface this by saying that is from a Christian perspective, talking about Christian concepts, to Christians. But, let me also state that it talks about how the self-care/self-love culture can be exhausting and soul-draining, and how it’s okay that you’re not everything to everyone every single minute of every day, and then of course it leads back to how God sees you as being enough and only His perspective matters. Which I love. It was honestly a very healing read for me.

So, that’s the Top Ten Tuesday of this week! Head over to That Artsy Reader Girl and join in on the fun!

  1. I’m shocked the Amelia Peabody books are in a high school library! That’s awesome. It’s a great series, although it’s been a loonnnggg time since I started it and I’m still somewhere in the middle of it. Glad you discovered it 🙂

    Happy TTT!
